The Melville Club Parish Magazine – July 2022 (no. 33)

When you read this Summer will be here in full force & indeed the rain !! I have not heard anyone complaining it is too hot {yet} !! Please enjoy the summer, believe it or not when you read this we will be on the slippery slope to Autumn as mid summers day has just passed.  Oh dear !..

The Melville Club Flag is still flying strong & we are doing our very best to support our members. We have quite a few plans for the summer & hopefully bring some joy & excitement. Remember ~ smile….

Day Trip in to Llangollen: Monday 27th June 2022.

This had to be cancelled as there was little interest & everyone had other commitments.

Defibrillator.

I have been informed they will be back in stock very soon & we are now on the waiting list to purchase this internal device, bear with us & we will let you know. Derek Mattinson Training {based in the Redhouse} is on standby to train us on how to use it. Once the internal Defibrillator has been purchased & fitted, we will embark on the purchase of an external Defibrillator.

Sad News: Mrs. Shirley Thorpe.

Yet again we bid a sad farewell to another member of the Melville Club. Shirley has been with us for the last few years & really enjoyed the Wednesday lunches. We have not seen her recently due to ill health. Thank-you Shirley for all the time you spent with us, you certainly made us smile with your humour, we loved it !! We offer our sincere condolences to the family from all the Melville Club members.

Internet Connection: Completed ~ Website & Face Book:  In progress.

Well, I think I have found help at long last, once we have progressed, I will advise you. Considering the age profile of the Melville Club members, we are aware how important the new technology & is certainly the way forward. However, we cannot grasp it like the younger generation, sometimes it goes in, but rarely stays there !!   Melville Club Website & Face Books is now under construction.

Activities.

Plans have been made for our ‘Jubilee Garden Tea Party’ Saturday 25th June from 14.00 to 16.00, This will be held in the gardens at the back & around the Melville Club. Tell you it’s all go…Onto Saturday 9th July which will be the ‘Albrighton Fayre’ where we will be having a stall ~ more details to follow ~ please do support your Melville Club & bring unused presents & items to sell.

Helping a local Ukrainian Family.

Recently a Ukrainian family has moved into the village with just a carrier bag as their possessions. The Melville Club rallied around & a lunchtime collection amassed a worthy £150. Thank-you for your kindness.
