When you read this the leaves will slowly be turning & Autumn will be just around the corner, what happened to the rain, we have certainly had a catch up !! With the recent summer sliding into our memories, I certainly recall those sorts of Summers in the 1950’s. Do you remember the tar on the roads melting & bubbles forming, only to arrive home covered from head to toe in the black stuff … Oh the good olde days…
The Melville Club flag is still flying strong & we are still doing our very best to support our loyal members. We have a few plans for the late summer & hopefully bring some joy & excitement. Remember ~ smile….
Day Trip in to Blackpool: Monday 22nd August 2022
It seemed it rained all day & some who booked, never turned up……..
Defibrillator
The Defibrillator has now been purchased & delivered, at long last. Once installed into the Melville Club we have requested Derek Mattinson Training {based in the Redhouse} to train us on how to use it. We are now embarking on the purchase of an external Defibrillator {yellow box} & will advise accordingly.
Home Instead Charity
We recently held a meeting with Mrs. Siobhan Davies in the Melville Club & from that meeting we will be offering a fortnightly meeting in the Melville Club on a Friday from 14.00 to 16.00.
The first meeting will take place on Friday 4th November, at this meeting will be tea/coffee, cakes & possibly other delights. Proposed activities:
- Invited talks
- History Club on Albrighton,
- Gardening
- Book club
- Bird watching {feathered variety..}
- Cooking
- Knit & Natter
- Card Making
- Astronomy
- Bingo & gentle quizzes
The aim is to bring the Melville Club Members & their guests together & offer additional activities, try to reduce loneliness & isolation in our aging community. Make new friends & create a network to help each other, develop new skills, new interests with hobbies whilst sharing the knowledge & of course, having some fun. This could be a welcome break from normal routine & increase the profile of the our Melville Club: are you interested !!

Mrs. Niccy Cottle is now holding ‘The Melville Club “Golden Years” every Tuesday from 13.00 to 15.00 for light entertainment & light refreshments. Recently they had an away day at Boundary Mill & everyone had a super day.
Contact is Niccy at the Melville Club – 07449 167116. You do not need to be a member of the Melville Club to attend. You never know you may enjoy yourself & meet new friends.
Melville Club Mini Bus: 15 Seater
We are now the proud owner of a 15 seater mini bus, only 9 months old. This mini bus has been purchased to help assist the members of the Melville Club to get around the village. We also have planned trips to Trentham Gardens, Penkridge Market & currently looking at other venues to visit in the future. You must be a full member of the Melville Club to use this service.
Log Cabin; Available
We currently have a large Log Cabin sited at the Melville Club & we would be approachable to letting Albrighton local groups use it. This Log Cabin was built to help the elderly enjoy different activities & we are concerned that it is at present under used.
