The Melville Club Parish Magazine August 2023 ~ No. 45

The time you read this there will be a glimmer of Autumn peeping through. This summer has been the most bizarre weather for many years, the rain is almost biblical !! Rain, RAIN !! …

Melville Club Flyer Service

The Melville Club is pleased to announce that agreement has been reached with Shropshire Council to run a Melville Club Flyer service on a similar basis to that previously operated by the Parish Councils. This will operate as a Community Transport Scheme facility offering local door to door transport at the existing subsidised fares to registered members on Mondays to Fridays between 09.00 & 16.00hrs.

Requests for journeys outside of these timeframes will be considered on an individual basis by the driver who can be contacted on Ken:- 07543 869754.

Disabled passengers with wheelchairs & electric trollies can be accommodated with the elderly or infirmed without their own transport given priority. Membership is free to registered Melville Club members – those aged 55 & above.

Alternativity £6 pa for those only wishing to benefit from the Melville Club Flyer Service. Registration forms are available from the driver.

Thanks have been extended to Shropshire Council who have cooperated in transferring the operator’s licence & associated annual grant to the Melville Club & the local Parish Councils who have made contributions towards operating costs.

Please use this valuable service to ensure its continuing existence. Use it or lose it..

Sad Passing of Mrs Joan Swann: 27th July 2023

Following a very long bout of ill health sadly Joan was called to higher service on the 27th July. She fought bravely for the last 8 years. Always greeting you with a smile & ‘how are you my lovely’. Sadly, Joan never returned to the Melville Club after Covid 19. A kind & thoughtful lady you could ever wish to meet. The funeral was at Donnington on the 14th August & well supported by family & friends.
